Add medical reports

Upload lab, imaging and visit reports for a person, or link them from your NAS or cloud storage, so they can be previewed, summarized and analyzed.

Updated 16 Oct 2026

Overview

Medical reports belong to a person and are added from the Medical section of their profile. There are three ways in:

  • Upload — pick one or many files from your computer.
  • Link from NAS/cloud — select files already in your connected storage.
  • + Add single report (details only) — record a report's type and date, then attach a file later.

Each report gets a type: lab, imaging, visit, prescription or other. Once a report has a file, you can use Summary, Preview and Ask AI on it. Lab reports are also read for numeric values that feed lab analysis.

Important:Extracted values and summaries describe the report only. They are not a diagnosis or medical advice — review results with your doctor.

Before you start

  • You need a role that can edit the person's records: Owner or Adult, or Limited for your own record.
  • To link files, the household needs storage connected (see File Storage), and you need the Owner or Adult role — Link from NAS/cloud isn't shown to other roles. Uploads work without it.
  • PDFs and common image formats (JPG, PNG) work best for previews and analysis.

Steps

  1. Open People and click the person's name.
  2. Scroll to Medical. Find the Bulk add reports box.
  3. Choose the report type from the dropdown (for example lab).
  4. To upload: click the file chooser, select one or more files, then click Upload. You'll see "Uploaded N report(s)".
  5. To link instead: click Link from NAS/cloud. Browse folders with open, tick files (or Select all N file(s) in this folder; Shift-click selects a range), then click Link N as lab.
  6. Open Medical & Health → 🧬 Lab Analysis & Comparison and click Sync now & update to analyze the new files.
Tip:Once a person has linked files in a folder, sync learns that folder. New files dropped into it later are linked to the same person automatically.

Example

Asha Rao keeps her mother's reports in a "Medical/Mother" folder on her NAS. She opens her mother's profile, chooses lab, clicks Link from NAS/cloud, ticks five PDFs and clicks Link 5 as lab. After Sync now & update, the analysis tab shows "5 of 5 reports analyzed".

FAQs

What happens to files that aren't lab results?

They're still kept and previewable. Analysis marks them as having no lab values, and their AI summary still feeds the person's combined health profile.

Does the report date come from the file?

Analysis uses the collection date printed on the report, else the report date you entered, else a date in the file name. If none exists, the reading is marked undated.

Can I add a report without a file?

Yes. Use + Add single report (details only), then Attach file when you have it.

Troubleshooting

"No cloud/NAS storage configured for this household"

Connect storage first from File Storage, then try Link from NAS/cloud again.

Some uploads failed

The message lists how many failed. Try those files again one at a time; very large or damaged files can fail.
