Reveal masked values

Sensitive numbers such as Aadhaar, PAN, SSN and passport numbers are shown masked. Learn how to reveal one on purpose, who can, and how it is recorded.

Overview

Personal360 never shows a sensitive number in full by default. Government IDs, document numbers and bank account numbers appear masked, like •••• 4321, so you can recognise them without exposing them to anyone looking over your shoulder.

When you genuinely need the full value, for example to fill in a form, you can reveal it. Revealing is a deliberate, one-at-a-time action, and every reveal is recorded in the activity log.

Before you start

  • Revealing needs the household Owner or Adult role. Limited and View only members always see masked values. See Roles and permissions.
  • Reveal works on the Government IDs card of a person's page: SSN (US), Aadhaar, PAN, Passport #, Driver's License, Phone (India) and Phone (US).

Steps

  1. Open People in the sidebar and choose the person.
  2. Find the Government IDs card. Each saved value shows masked with a Reveal button.
  3. Press Reveal next to the value you need. The full value appears in place.
  4. Use it, then press Hide to mask it again. Leaving or refreshing the page also masks it.
Important:Each reveal is logged with who revealed which field and when. This protects your household — anyone can check Activity to see that only the right people looked.

To change a value, use Edit government IDs (only filled fields change) on the same page. Fields you leave blank keep their current value.

Example

Asha Rao is filling in a bank form that asks for her PAN. She opens her page, presses Reveal next to PAN, copies the number, and presses Hide. Later, her husband checks Activity and sees a reveal entry for Asha's PAN, with Asha's name and the time.

FAQs

Can I reveal a document number from IDs & Documents?

No. Document numbers on IDs & Documents and in a person's Documents card are always shown masked. If you need the full number, open the file with Preview, or store the ID in the person's Government IDs, where it can be revealed. See Preview and download files.

Does the AI assistant show full numbers?

The assistant is designed to keep sensitive numbers masked in its answers. See What the AI can see.

Why does editing a document leave the Number field empty?

For safety, the edit window never shows the saved number. Leave Number blank to keep it, or type a new one to replace it.

Troubleshooting

Reveal shows "Not permitted"

Your role in this household doesn't allow revealing, or you're viewing a person shared read-only from another household. Ask the Owner of the person's home household to give you the Adult role if you need this. See Roles and permissions.

A value is missing from Government IDs

Only saved values are listed. If a row isn't there, nothing has been entered yet — add it with Edit government IDs (only filled fields change).
