Property and utilities

Track your home's services, such as electricity, water and internet, with provider, masked account number, monthly cost, autopay and contract renewal date.

Updated 16 Oct 2026

Overview

The Property & Utilities page (titled Household Utilities) keeps a list of the services your home runs on. Utilities belong to a household, not a person.

For each utility you can record:

  • Household (required) — which household it belongs to
  • Provider (required) — the company's name
  • Type (required) — for example electric, gas, water, internet
  • Account number — encrypted and shown masked (last 4 characters)
  • Monthly cost
  • Renewal / contract end — a date
  • Autopay — tick if it's paid automatically

The table is sorted by renewal date, soonest first. The renewal date is shown as a coloured badge: green when it's more than 90 days away, amber within 90 days, and red once it has passed.

Before you start

  • You need a household. If you have none, the page shows Create household.
  • You need the Owner or Adult role to add or delete utilities. Utilities are household-level records, so Limited members (own data only) don't see this page's list at all.

Steps

  1. Open Property & Utilities in the sidebar.
  2. Click Add utility to open the form. It's open already if you have no utilities yet.
  3. Choose the Household, then enter Provider and Type.
  4. Add the Account number, Monthly cost and Renewal / contract end date if you have them.
  5. Tick Autopay if the bill is paid automatically.
  6. Click Save. The utility appears in the table.

To remove one, click Delete on its row and confirm.

Tip:Fixed-term contracts — broadband, gas or an annual maintenance plan — benefit most from a renewal date. The amber badge gives you three months' warning to compare offers.

Example

The Rao household adds "Example Power" (Type electric, account ending 0042, Monthly cost 2400, Autopay ticked) and "Example Fibre" (Type internet, Renewal / contract end next March). Within 90 days of March, the internet renewal badge turns amber.

FAQs

Will I get an email before a utility renews?

No. Email alerts are sent for documents with an expiry date. For utilities, watch the coloured renewal badge here. If you need an email reminder, you can also add the contract as a document with an expiry date — see Expiry alerts.

What currency is the monthly cost in?

Enter the number only, in whatever currency you use. The table shows the amount without a currency symbol (for example 1,500.00), because Personal360 does not yet have a per-household currency setting.

Can I edit a utility?

The form adds new entries. To change one, delete it and add it again.

Troubleshooting

The Household dropdown is empty

You're not a member of any household yet. Create one from People.

The Renewal column shows a dash

No renewal date was entered. Delete and re-add the utility with a date to get colour-coded status.
